"Like the cup with its boundaries,
we, too, need parameters
so that our life does not seep away
into endless busy-ness
and unguarded, unfocused activity"
(Cup of Our Life, 22).

My take thus far (for whatever it's worth after 2 days, and now that I think I have figured out how to talk to Jess' blog): I've got to totally empty out all the "stuff" I've been carrying around in my "cup" in order to make room for "Him."

I really identified with this: "When I remember that God has made a home in my heart and in the heart of each one I meet, I look at people and life quite differently. I am more patient, kind, and much less judgmental."

Does everyone know how to access the blog? It's a little tricky for the computer illiterate.

I am finding so many things to highlight in this book!!! Both of these quotes (about busy-ness and about God living in everyone) were two such reminders I want to re-read and remember.

I think that's why I just posted the quote and not more thoughts--to hear more reflection from folks. But it is amazing how many things I let fill up the spaces of my life and crowd out God.

Good job on figuring out the blog, Ray!

I hope I am filling and emptying my cup on a daily basis. I love this book, and what it is coming to mean to me. I LOVE the metaphor of "The Cup", and it's many uses.
I look and think of cups in a whole new light now.

I love today's message - nothing is too common to be exalted or can be too exalted to become common (to paraphrase). I tend to neglect the "common" areas in my life.

The Message translates John 15:9 as, "Make yourselves at home in my love." Since Monday, I have really been thinking about what it means to "be at home" with God.

Perhaps the phrase hung with me all week as we had out of town guests. As I went about my activities such as work and rehab, I encouraged them to, "make themselves at home." The hospitality of Christ to us is amazing, far exceeding my hospitality to him.
